The Alabama BPW Foundation was officially incorporated in 1982 and received its 501c3 tax exempt status from the IRS in 1982.
The purpose of this Foundation shall be the following:
- to establish and distribute scholarship funds to enable deserving individuals who are residents of Alabama to acquire education/training necessary for careers and or professions;
- to further the improvement and/or development of business and professional women through lectures, seminars and other forms of instruction;
- to conduct and/or support surveys and other forms of research into issues effecting or impacting working women;
- to promote projects and/or research and/or share information on topics impacting working women in Alabama; and
- to solicit and/or receive gifts from individuals and organizations to carry out the purpose of this foundation
The Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees of the Alabama Business and Professional Women’s Foundation shall serve as the official governing board of the Foundation. The Board shall consist of the following:
- current State President of BPW/AL
- three members selected from the Past President’s Council of BPW/AL
- five members-at-large
- seven congressional members (one from each Congressional District)
- two additional Federation members – one to be Scholarship Chair and one to be Foundation Chair
- additional lifetime members may be selected by the Trustees
Members in categories a-e shall serve staggered three year terms. Category f are selected annually.
